1861 Taylor Family Bible

Another Local Historical Family Treasure Has Just Been Found and your assistance is needed to see if we can locate local relatives that would like to care for this priceless treasure.

We are looking for family members related to Benjamin Taylor and Annie E. Taylor nee Bliss family that lived in Rockport Indiana during the mid 1800’s until the turn of the century.

They owned a “Dry Goods” store located at 1st and Main street in Rockport, until around 1900 or 1910.

A family bible containing old tin type photos as well as a record of family births and deaths, was located in Seattle and a number of caring individuals would like to make sure this bible is returned to local family members.

This bible has priceless information that belongs back in the hands of the Taylor or Bliss family.

One treasure found was a newspaper clipping about their 1861 marriage titled Hymenial.

HYMENIAL

Married on Wesnesday, May 1st., A. D. at the residence of Thos. D. Boyer, by the Rev. S B. Sutton, Mr. Benj. M. Taylor, to Miss Ann E. Bliss of Rockport.

The happy couple have our best wishes for their future happiness and prosperity. Our old friend Milt, has went and gone and done it. He has jumped into the enchanting whirlpool of matrimony, and henceforth will wonder along the bright silvery stream of love, and beneath the velvety foliage of Arcadian bowers, that mirror their brightness in the waters of life’s river.

On life’s tempestuous Ocean, no longer a sailor; Friend Milt. shall revel in enchantments of Bliss, While sweet Anna, is transformed into a Taylor, To stich up her Milt’s sorrows with a kiss.

Marriage Hymenial from 1861
