AMERICAN LEGACIES ORG., INC. IS CELEBRATING 30 YEARS!
And YOU are invited to help us celebrate!
Preserving The Past, For Future Generations
For 30 years, American Legacies Org., Inc. has been working to preserve family and community history while providing FREE programs and services for Senior Citizens.
On September 10, 2026, at 4:00 P.M., our Executive Board of Directors will host a special public meeting to celebrate our 30th Anniversary.
But this celebration isn't just about looking back at the past 30 years.
We are looking toward the future—and we want to take what we have learned and bring these FREE services to seniors in other communities.
We are especially interested in hearing from people in other counties, towns and states who would like to help establish American Legacies programs in their own communities.
We are NOT a government agency, medical service provider or social organization.
We are simply a collection of concerned Americans who care enough about the individuals who helped build this country to volunteer our time, knowledge and energy in order to do something constructive that will put a smile upon their faces and in their hearts.
Everything We Do For These Seniors Is 100% FREE.
Here are just some of the FREE programs we provide:
FREE CHRISTMAS DAY DINNER
Complete with music and FREE GIFTS for everyone who attends.
SENIOR HELPERS PROGRAM
We offer FREE assistance to seniors with minor projects around their homes and property, such as removing snow from porches and performing minor yard and home maintenance.
“ADOPT A GRANDPARENT” PROGRAM
Individuals or families “VISIT” with local seniors one day a month, simply to sit with them for an hour and let them talk about themselves, their family, their life and other things of interest.
Basically, it is taking a moment to simply “BE THERE” as a temporary replacement for biological family members who are not available to be there in person.
“PRESERVING OLD PHOTOGRAPHS” PROGRAM
We work with seniors who have old photographs of friends, family members or their community. We scan their photographs or take snapshots of them so digital copies can be preserved for future generations.
“GENEALOGY” PROGRAM
We collect copies of genealogy information from local residents and convert it to a digital format to preserve it for them.
“LIVING LEGACIES” PROGRAM
We interview and record life stories, including information about parents and grandparents, and convert the recordings to text so they can be printed in books that are donated to the family and local libraries.
We also preserve the information in a digital format so it will be available for future generations who have not yet been born.
“FAMILY RECIPE” PROGRAM
We collect old family recipes and place them into book and digital formats so they can be preserved for future family members.
Every piece of information we gather from individuals and publish in a book or digital format retains the appropriate copyright protection in the name of the family.
WE WANT TO EXPAND INTO OTHER COMMUNITIES!
American Legacies Org., Inc. is looking for volunteers of all ages in other towns, counties and states who would like to help bring these FREE programs to seniors in their own communities.
You do NOT have to be an expert.
You simply need to care about Senior Citizens and be willing to give a little of your time each month.
Volunteers who can spare at least ONE HOUR A MONTH and know how to do any of the following will be greatly appreciated—and will receive many blessings:
- Cook a healthy and tasty dish.
- Help put up Christmas decorations.
- Offer a friendly smile and converse with another person.
- Read to someone who has trouble reading because of eyesight problems.
- Use a cell phone to record a conversation, with permission.
- Use a video camera, with permission.
- Use a computer.
- Scan images.
- Lead others in singing OLD Christmas Carols.
- Turn a wrench, swing a hammer, use a saw or clean a window.
- Climb a ladder to clean a ceiling fan or replace a light bulb.
- Mow, weed-eat or shovel snow.
We are also willing to hold additional meetings in other towns, counties and states when enough volunteers are available to assist us in those areas.
