
Valeda H. Conner
Newtonville, Ind. – Valeda H. Connor, 92, of Newtonville, Ind., passed away on Tuesday, March 9, 2010, at the Angel River Health and Rehabilitation Center in Newburgh, Ind.
Valeda was born in Newtonville, Ind., on April 13, 1917, to the late Henry and Rillis (Kennedy) Hagan.
She worked for General Electric for over 20 years. Valeda had been a member of the Newtonville United Methodist Church and was a member of Cornerstone United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Garnet Chapter 146 and the Rebecca’s Lodge.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Connor, daughter, Bonnie Johnson.
Valeda is survived by her grandsons, Kent Johnson and his wife, Cindy, of Maryville, Tenn., Brent Johnson and his wife, Lisa, of Newburgh, Ind.; great-grandchildren, Lynsey, Jamie, Jackie, Clayton; sister, Mary Painter of Rockport, Ind.; brother, Keith Hagan of Cannelton, Ind.; son-in-law, Bennie Johnson and his wife, Pam, of Newburgh, Ind.
Servives are 10 a.m. Friday, March 12, 2010, at the Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport, Ind., with Rev. Mark Miller officiting. Burial is in New Hope Cemetery in Newtonville, Ind.
Visitation is from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. today, March 11, 2010, and from 8 a.m. until the time of service Friday at the funeral home. The Order of the Eastern Star Garnet Chapter 146 will have a service at 7 p.m. today.

Iona C. Thorpe
Grandview, Ind. – Iona C. Thorpe, 88, of Grandview, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2008, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh.
Iona was born in Chrisney, Ind., on March 20, 1920, to the late Wesley and Beulah (Burkhart) Carter. She was a homemaker. Iona was a member of the Grandview United Methodist Church and had served as treasurer for many years. She was active in the Grandview Civic Association.
She was preceded in death by her husband John Thorpe, and brother, Pershing Carter.
Survivinr are her children, Rick Thorpe and his wife, Vicki, of Rockport, Kay Bates and her husband David, of Newburgh, and Tom Thorpe and his wife, Carolyn, of Rockport; eight grandchildren, Ryan Thorpe, Wendy Winkle, Steve, Brian, Kevin and Johnathan Thorpe, Kristen Gubbins and Brad Bates; seven great-grandchildren; and sister Bernadine Birkhead of Evansville.
Services 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 29, 2008, at the Grandview United Methodist Church in Grandview, with Rev Warren Kirk officiating. Burial in New Hope Cemetery in Grandview.
Visitation is 2 to 8 p.m. today, Aug. 28, 2008, and from, 9 to 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 29, 2008 at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport.

Emma Huebschman
Emma Huebschman, 87, of Evansville, died at 4:43 p.m. Tuesday at Welborn Baptist Hospital.
She retired as a teacher, having taught in the Vanderburgh and Spencer County School systems.
She was a charter member of Christ United Church of Christ, Iota Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa, Indiana Retired Teachers Association, and state and local chapters of American Association of Retired Persons.
Surviving are her husband, Clarence; a sister, Anna Menikheim of Evansville; a brother, William Schroeder of Lamar, Ind.; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Ziemer Funeral Home – East Chapel, the Revs. Carl Robinson and Mary Hendrickson officiating, with burial in St. Peter Cemetery at Lamar, Ind.
Friends may call at 2 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Dr. Michael Monar
Rockport, Ind. – Dr. Michael O. Monar, 69. of Rockport, died at 4 a.m. April 13, 1991, at Owensboro-Davis County Hospital in Owensboro, Ky.
He was a member od Owensboro-Davis County Hospital and had practiced medicine in Rockport for 37 years.
A 1953 graduate of Indiana University School of Medicine, he was a member of Lakewood Country Club, Trinity United Methodist Church, American Legion Post 205 and a life member of the American Medical Association’s Academy of Family Practice.
A world War II and Korean War veteran, he also was a member of Phi Rho medical fraternity.
Surviving are his wife, Pat; two daughters, Maralee Ruark of Rockport and Patty Monar of Indianapolis; four sons, Michael of Batavia, Ill., Mark of Newburgh, Jeff of Hatfield and Lee of Margarita, Calif.; two sisters, Eva Thompson of Plainfield and Florence Rogozia of Indianapolis; and 10 grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Boultinghouse Funeral Home, with burial in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call after 2 p.m. today at the Funeral home.

Edna Matthews of Haverford, Pa.
Edna (Wills) Matthews of Haverford, Pa., died Wednesday Aug. 1, 1990. She had lived previously in Grandview.
Survivors include her husband, Francis B.; a daughter, Sherry M. Beebe of Norberth, Pa., a son, Todd of Cincinnatti, Ohio; two brothers; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services were Aug. 6, at the Chadwick Funeral Home in Ardmore, Pa., with burial at Valley Forge Memorial Gardens.
