War Time Memories

Jack Dale Asher entered the US Army August 17, 1949 at Evansville, Indiana. He was attached to the 3rd. Armored Division and served his basic training at Fort Knox, KY. From there, he was assigned to Fort Benning, Ga. where he served as an M.P.

 

He went to Pusan, Korea August 18, 1950 and was promoted to Corporal. On Feb. 15th, 1951, while fighting against the North Korean Communists and Chinese Communists, he was wounded. He was hospitalized at Pusan, South Korea, near Seoul but died the following day, February 16, 1951. He was only 19 years, 4 months and 5 days old at the time of his death.
