REALLY FOLKS, I don’t know if its anchors away or anchors aweigh, but what I’m really curious about is: How many of us WWII guys who served overseas remember the name of the ship that carried us at sea to the great adventure or the dates of arrival and departure to wherever?

The woman known as "Axis Sally" was actually Mildred Gillars -- born in Portland, Maine in 1900. She was an aspiring actress who ended up in Greenwich Village in the late twenties, hoping to crash the stage. When she failed to do so, she picked up again and moved to Europe to pursue a political attache with whom she'd had a casual affair. By 1934, she had settled in Berlin, where she eked out a living as a translator and dabbled at bit parts in German films.

A closed mouth gathers no feet.
It's not the pace of life that concerns me, it's the sudden stop at the end.

A Typical Thanksgiving Day
For Mark Braziel and family 50 years ago
We would plan and look forward to Thanksgiving Day for a week or two.
On Thanksgiving Day, we got up early and headed out to some of our families house. Sometimes we went to our parents, sometimes to Viola’s sisters or to the home of Viola and myself.
