It is very important that in the title of this piece, that the "veil" in reveiled be in italics. This word is meant to be "revealed," and is purposely misspelled to include the word veil. That is why those four letters must be italicized.

I started out in the scouts and raiders in 1942. After North Africa. I went abroad The USS Florence Nightingale AP 70. Stayed aboard her for 22 months. Making the invasion of Siscly, Selnora, Point De Lac, and Southern France.

Regarding Class Trip

Hi!

I really enjoyed reading about your trip to DC and the Marine Memorial. I am a WWII veteran and I hope you and your students got a chance to visit the WWII Memorial. The WWII Memorial is not a veterans memorial, it is a monument to all those people that made victory possible. This includes the defense workers and the people at home that did so much to help us win a hard fought victory.

Newtonville, Ind. – Valeda H. Connor, 92, of Newtonville, Ind., passed away on Tuesday, March 9, 2010, at the Angel River Health and Rehabilitation Center in Newburgh, Ind.

Valeda was born in Newtonville, Ind., on April 13, 1917, to the late Henry and Rillis (Kennedy) Hagan.

I noticed an old recipe here for making Applebutter. However, it did not say how long to cook it. Can anyone offer me some ideas as to how I can tell when it is finished. Does it get thicker after it cools off, etc.

Mrs. Myra A. Feaster

The funeral of Mrs Myra A. Feaster, 306 West Cumberland Street, took place this afternoon at Rohland Funeral Home where scores of friends viewed the body and also attended the services.

Rev. J. Calvin Keene, of Cleona and Rev. McComsey of Lancaster, pastor of the local Pentecostal Mission, officiated and the bearers were John, Robert, and Wayne Miller, John Biever, John Keenan and Andrew Mitro. The remains were intered . . .

Back in the good old days of my youth, freezers were a new thing and very few people could afford them, so we used Hot Water Bath Canning instead. So this month, I will tell you how Hot Water Bath Canning was and is still done.

It is the oldest way to can food in jars to preserve it. Not just vegetables and fruit were done but meat was also done the same way.

In George Washington's days, there were no cameras. One's image was either sculpted or painted. Some paintings of George Washington showed him standing behind a desk with one arm behind his back while others showed both legs and both arms. Prices charged by painters were not based on how many people were to be painted, but by how many limbs were to be painted. Arms and legs are "limbs," therefore painting them would cost the buyer more. Hence the expression: "Okay, but it'll cost you an arm and a leg."
