The word Legacies to me has many definitions. So After some research. These are some I found.

1.) Memories passed down by word of mouth.

2.) To be remembered.

3.) What one leaves behind.

Everyone leaves a legacy. Many are just never recorded. When someone enjoys a food you cooked, this is part of your Legacy. When we talk or write about our family, we are leaving their legacy.

I joined the Navy on May 20 1943 just before I was to be 18 years old. I was sent to the US Navy boot camp in San Diego California. From there I went to Electricians school also in San Diego. In December I was then assigned to the not yet finished USS Comfort AH6 as communications electrician. I became one of the communication electricians and movie operator.

On July 10, 1943, Chips, a soldier dog of the K-9 Corps, stood beside his handler, Private John Rowell of Arkansas, in a landing boat. They watched the shore of Sicily take shape in the dawn light, just east of Licata, on the southern coast of Sicily. Chips and Private Rowell heard the chatter of machine guns, rifles answering and the explosive bursts of hand grenades. Private Rowell saw the crimson machine gun tracer bullets and the white gold of flares blazing across the sky.

Chapter 3: History of Mifflin School

Robert Denbo sold the first land purchased for a school in Union Township to the Township Trustee on October 22, 1853, and the school was built in Grantsburg, Indiana. Malachi Ott sold the second school site in 1854.It was located in section 29, township 3 south, range 1 west.

One rainy afternoon, I emptied a plastic bag of old pictures onto my kitchen counter. I was searching for a specific photo of an uncle and instead found a piece of history that shaped my mother into the woman she has been her entire life.

Being in Patton's Third Army was a mixed blessing. Everybody knew about the swashbuckling, profane, theatrical General. The men at the front of his attacking battle sword spoke of him as ‘Old Blood and Guts’—Our blood and his guts.

Bettina Pearson came to Cullman County from her graduation at Alabama College in 1941 to teach math at West Point. In those days, teachers taught whatever needed to be taught. She also taught typing, which she had for six weeks in college; history, which was not her favorite subject; algebra, business math and 7th, 8th and 9th grade math. She had a 9th grade homeroom and 7 periods with about 260 students a day.
